Amazon has a new restaurant delivery partner for Prime members. Starting today, you can order from Uber Eats restaurants right inside the Amazon app, with no delivery fee on orders of $25 or more. It’s one more perk to weigh when you’re deciding whether Prime is worth it, alongside the deals and shipping.
Amazon announced the partnership Thursday morning. Prime members in the US can place Uber Eats orders on Amazon.com and in the Amazon Shopping app, without needing a separate Uber account. Uber Eats covers hundreds of thousands of restaurants in nearly 10,000 cities and towns, from chains like Chipotle, Wingstop, and Sweetgreen to small local spots.
To kick things off, Prime members get $20 off each of their first two Uber Eats orders of $25 or more. You can also share the perk with one other adult in your household through Amazon Family.
Grubhub is out
This replaces Amazon’s deal with Grubhub, which started in 2022 with a free year of Grubhub+ for Prime members and became permanent in 2024. Amazon ended that agreement today, saying it saw a chance to offer a better restaurant delivery experience. If you already activated Grubhub+ through Prime, you can keep using it through December 31, 2027.
If you pay for Uber One, which already includes $0 delivery fees, nothing changes.
Amazon says frequent delivery users could save more than $175 a year between the waived fees and Prime-only promotions. That’s more than Prime’s $139 annual cost. But that number depends on how often you order. The Verge points out that the $25 minimum makes this less useful if you’re usually ordering for one person.
This is also Amazon’s third try at restaurant delivery. It ran its own Amazon Restaurants service for about four years before shutting it down in 2019. It then leaned on partners like Deliveroo in the UK and Grubhub in the US.
Uber president and COO Andrew Macdonald said the goal was to make restaurant delivery feel as natural as ordering anything else on Amazon. That’s the real pitch here. Amazon wants to be the one app you open for everything, from Prime Day deals to streaming to dinner.
Amazon has been adding more value to Prime lately. Alexa+ became free for US Prime members in February. On the other hand, Amazon ended free shipping sharing with people outside your household last year. Uber Eats is a bigger perk than most, especially if you already order delivery a few times a month.
