Bigger Than Ever
The fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson has hit the market with staggering momentum, recording 15,045 pre-orders on its first day of availability. This volume easily surpasses the 10,842 first-day contracts logged by the outgoing fourth-generation model during its 2020 debut. Entering a highly competitive compact SUV segment, the overhauled vehicle is successfully attracting a broad range of buyers. Early reception is largely driven by a comprehensive redesign, expanded cabin proportions, and major advances in digital integration.
We have earlier noted that the crossover’s striking new design will be paying immediate dividends on the sales floor. The updated architecture provides a stronger foundation for the brand to introduce its latest connected services and active driver-assist functions, ensuring the vehicle remains highly competitive throughout its lifecycle.

There’s a Tucson for All Tastes
According to a recent report from the Korean Car Blog, early order data reveals a sharp polarization in customer preferences. Buyers are aggressively gravitating toward both ends of the pricing spectrum. The flagship Inspiration trim captured a dominant 44% share of initial orders, climbing significantly from a 29% take rate on the previous generation. This top-tier specification comes standard with Highway Driving Assist 2, dual wireless chargers, and a 17-inch display running Pleos Connect software. Despite this expanding digital ecosystem, the interior smartly balances modern tech by keeping traditional physical controls for essential cabin functions.
The entry-level H-Pick grade secured a massive share of the pie with an impressive 33% of all bookings. This validates the corporate strategy of abandoning bare-bones base models. Complementing the crossover’s recently updated exterior, loading the entry trim with core safety features and over-the-air update capability makes it an incredibly attractive value. It proves that generous standard equipment is crucial for securing budget-conscious shoppers without sacrificing brand prestige. The mid-tier Exclusive trim accounted for 22% of orders, while the rugged XRT appearance package rounded out the remainder.

Banking on Hybrid Tech
Pre-order data also underscores a clear consumer shift toward electrified propulsion. The next-generation hybrid variant established itself as the preferred choice, accounting for 55% of all day-one contracts. This represents a solid increase from the 48% hybrid take rate seen in the outgoing generation. The automaker’s upgraded hybrid system promises noticeable improvements in total output alongside significantly reduced fuel consumption.
For traditional internal combustion buyers, the revised gasoline turbo engine remains available. It features an enlarged turbocharger that increases peak output by 13 horsepower, mated to a refined eight-speed automatic transmission. All models across the lineup benefit from advanced factory-standard safety technology, including a dual-redundancy door unlock power supply, unintended acceleration mitigation, and navigation-based smart cruise control.
