As part of today’s announcements, Google has also announced that Adobe Premiere will be coming to Android later this Summer.
Finally, a real video editor that rivals what is available on desktop, now in your pocket. Google also says that it will offer access to exclusive templates and effects to create and post YouTube Shorts from the app. This will help you stand out from the millions, if not billions, of Shorts that get uploaded daily.
Google says that Adobe Premiere is the “ultimate tool to help your content stand out in the feed.”
This is just one of many Android 17 creator tools announced today at The Android Show | I/O Edition.
Google also says more devices will launch with APV support this year
Google also talked about how great APV is, which stands for Advanced Professional Video. It’s currently the industry’s most storage-efficient professional video format, built specifically for mobile creators. Currently, it’s only available on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the vivo X300 Ultra, “with more Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered flagship devices to follow later this year.”
So what does that mean? Well, it doesn’t necessarily rule out the Pixel 11, but we’d be surprised to see it supported on the Pixel 11 later this year. We will most likely see it on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, as well as a few other Snapdragon 8 Elite devices launching later this year.
AVP is a great feature to have. It really allows you to get a ton of data in your video, which you can then do whatever you want with. Think of it as shooting in RAW, but on steroids. Samsung actually lets you shoot 8K30 in APV, which, as you’d expect, does take up a lot of storage.
