The Samsung Galaxy phone brand has been adopted by users on a massive global scale to contribute to Samsung’s market dominance in the smartphone industry, and now Samsung has shared a specific figure that can be attached to that number, confirming just how many global users of the phone brand there are.
According to Samsung, 1.2 billion people have chosen to switch to Samsung Galaxy phones from whatever they were using before. A large figure like that puts into perspective just how popular the Galaxy smartphone brand is, even among Samsung’s own phones. Earlier this year it was reported that Samsung was crushing Galaxy S26 sales, with it being up by 13% compared to the sales of the Galaxy S25 at the same time the year before.
Back in August, an analysis of US smartphone sales showed that Samsung made up 47% of the smartphone market within the country in Q2 of 2026. This is compared to the 38% market share it had in the US in Q2 2025. Showcasing that the US is one of its biggest markets.
Samsung says there are billions of reasons for global users to swap to Galaxy phones
In addition to confirming that there are now 1.2 billion global Galaxy smartphone users, Samsung is also marketing this milestone by telling consumers that there are billions of reasons to switch to a Galaxy phone. At first, Samsung focuses in on the Pro Zoom feature that lets you zoom in 100x for a much closer shot of whatever you’re taking pictures of.
It’s also focusing on the video chat and video recording capabilities. There are tons of reasons users switch to Galaxy phones, whether it be the seven years of OS updates to match the commitment made by Google’s Pixel devices, or the powerful chipsets that Samsung uses from Qualcomm every year. But this ad is from Samsung is mostly centered around the different things you can do with the camera.
