HP has officially launched the Omnibook 5, a laptop that comes in at just under $700 with features like an OLED panel display, 2.5K resolution, and a battery life that would make your head spin if a company told you just a few years ago that their machine would last this long. The Omnibook 5, much like Lenovo’s IdeaPad Vibe that was announced back during IFA 2026 in September, is a MacBook Neo competitor that comes in colorful chassis options with a slim design and a very lightweight build.
It even hits the market at the same price as the IdeaPad Vibe, with HP confirming a retail price of $699.99. For reference, the Apple MacBook Neo also retails for $699 at the starting price, so both of these are right on the money with competitive pricing and trying to attract the same types of consumers.
HP claims the Omnibook 5 can last for up to 42 hours per charge
Battery life remains a high priority for consumers with their laptops these days and HP’s newest is really turning up the heat with its offering in this area. The company claims it can last for up to 42 hours on a single charge, though this is with local video playback, and not something like web browsing and downloading files.
The display is also featuring a 180-degree hinge so you can fold it back and lay the laptop flat, plus it has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage at the base model, with options for a CPU configuration that goes up to the Intel Core 7 processor. It’s 11.77mm thin and weighs about 2.5 lbs., with four color options to choose from that include Starlit Blue, Peony Pink, Soft Honeydew, and Smoke Silver. HP will offer a 512GB model that raises the price up to $749.99.
