The Xiaomi Pad 9 and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro tablets have been announced. These two tablets arrived alongside the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max flagship smartphones during a launch event in China.
The Xiaomi Pad 9 series has just landed with powerful specs and an appealing price
These two tablets look basically the same, and they also share plenty of specs. There are some differences, though, of course. Let’s talk about their design first, as they are almost identical in that regard.
The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro is the larger of the two devices. It measures 279.14 x 191.96 x 5.8mm, while it weighs 580 / 589 grams (Matte Glass version). The Xiaomi Pad 9 measures 251.2 x 173.42 x 5.75 mm and weighs 485 / 494 grams (Matte Glass version).
The ‘Pro’ model has a larger display
The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro does include a larger display, which is the main reason for the larger size. More on that soon. Let’s first say that both devices have a flat display, along with a flat backplate and a flat frame all around.
Both of them include rather thin bezels around the display (for tablet standards), and also have a camera island in the top-left corner of their backs. The Xiaomi Pad 9’s camera island is covered by glass in its entirety. The same cannot be said for the one on the Pad 9 Pro, as it has a pill-shaped cutout inside that square camera island.
Both devices have 144Hz LCD panels
The Xiaomi Pad 9 includes an 11.2-inch display, while the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro has a 12.5-inch panel. Both of those displays are LCD panels with a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling. They also support HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and have a TÜV low blue light certification.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip fuels the Xiaomi Pad 9, while the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. Both 8GB and 12GB RAM options are on offer for both devices; the same goes for storage (128GB and 256GB variants).
The ‘Pro’ variant supports faster charging and a larger battery
There is a 9,720mAh battery included in the Xiaomi Pad 9, while the ‘Pro’ model incorporates an 11,000mAh unit. The regular variant supports 45W wired charging, while the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro supports 67W wired charging.
Both of them include a fingerprint scanner and an IR blaster. The same goes for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. There are also four speakers and four microphones included on both devices, along with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio support.
The Xiaomi Pad 9 has a 13-megapixel rear camera, along with an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro includes a 50-megapixel main camera and a 32-megapixel selfie snapper.
The price tags are quite appealing, at least in China
The pricing for the Xiaomi Pad 9 starts at CNY2,999 ($447) and goes up to CNY3,799 ($565). The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro pricing kicks off at CNY3,799 ($565) and goes up to CNY4,999 ($745). These tablets are expected to reach global markets.
