We’ve seen plenty of new tech at IFA 2026 in Berlin, and we’re here to talk about one of the most eye-catching. TECNO showed off a truly bezel-less smartphone at IFA. Granted, this is just a concept phone at this point, but it’s a fully functioning device. It’s not just a piece of plastic showing what could have been, not at all. TECNO figured out the tech on how to make this phone a reality, and that’s exactly what the company did.
TECNO’s new concept phone is a fully functioning bezel-less smartphone
The moment you look at the phone with a powered-on display, you’ll realize that the bezels are… not there. The word ‘bezel-less’ has been thrown around a lot for years now. Companies used it for devices that arrived with thinner bezels, but they were never bezel-less, as promised. Well, this one is completely bezel-less. There are ZERO bezels around the display, or 0mm, if you will. TECNO explained how it achieved that, and it’s… outstanding.
All this is possible because of three technologies used in the display structure and assembly. TECNO used Dual Cover Glass Stack, Inverted Assembly, and Front-Side Hot-Melt Bonding in order to make this phone a reality. A dual-layer cover glass, which the company used here, conceals the panel’s inactive area. Thanks to Inverted Assembly, the display module is being inserted from the rear-cover side towards the front.
The company had some imaginative solutions to make this phone a reality
The last tech used is the Front-Side Hot-Melt Bonding, as TECNO described it.TECNO essentially applies a custom hot-melt adhesive between the extended CG2 edge and the mid-frame in order to secure the cover glass from the front side. The phone looks outstanding because of all this. This concept device has a 6.78-inch flexible OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution, in case you were wondering.
Having said that, do note that it will not go on sale; it’s just a concept at this point. The technology is working, however, and we do expect TECNO to apply it to an actual product. If the company ends up removing the display camera hole from that device by including an under-display camera, the effect of 0mm bezels will be even higher. All in all, this feat prompted us to give one of our IFA 2026 awards to TECNO.
