vivo is preparing to announce its latest foldable device in China in just a couple of days, the vivo X Fold 6. And now, official pre-order listings for the device have appeared, and show that it will be available in multiple configurations. Including 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB.
As we can see from the leaked flyer, it looks like the vivo X Fold 6 is going to start at 9999 RMB and max out at 12,499 RMB. That’s equivalent to around $1,472 to $1,840 USD. Still cheaper than most foldables available in the US, but keep in mind that China does subsidize its phones quite heavily.
This is a pretty major price bump from the vivo X Fold 5 last year, which launched as low as 6,999 RMB, so we’re looking at a solid 30% price jump here. And AI is going to be the reason why. The current memory shortage, which is now extending to storage and CPU components, which is being caused by AI and data centers, is driving up the cost of everything. Especially smartphones. This is why we firmly believe that Samsung will be raising prices next month on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, too.

vivo X Fold 6 is slated to launch with the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition
The vivo X Fold 6 is looking like a real powerhouse right now, powered by a souped-up MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, which is being called the ‘Super Edition’. It’s also expected to have up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, though once it is made available globally, I’d expect one, maybe two RAM+Storage variants to be available. Instead of the four that will be available in China.
X Fold 6 is also expected to have an 8.02-inch foldable OLED display, a 200-megapixel triple camera setup that also includes a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, along with a 7,000mAh capacity battery. One of the largest batteries in a foldable right now.
