The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is coming as a successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, as Samsung shuffled up the names of its foldables for whatever reason. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also coming, but that will be the company’s wide foldable, it seems.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will have a “significantly enhanced screen resolution”
In any case, new information keeps coming, and Ice Universe just had more to share. He claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will arrive with a “significantly enhanced screen resolution.”
Ice Universe is one of the best-known and most accurate tipsters around, so we have no reason to doubt him. The thing is, he did not reveal what that resolution is, unfortunately. He also did not specify whether that relates to one display or both.
As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an 8-inch main display with a resolution of 2184 x 1968 pixels. The cover display on the phone measures 6.5 inches and offers a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels.
The OPPO Find N6 beats the Galaxy Z Fold 7 resolution-wise, but that may change with a new phone
The OPPO Find N6, which is widely considered to be one of the best, if not the best foldable around, has a resolution of 2480 x 2248 pixels on the main display and a resolution of 2616 x 1140 on the cover display.
That is higher than what Samsung offers, and that goes for both displays. The difference is bigger when it comes to the main display. The fact that Ice Universe said that the resolution will be “significantly” increased means it could actually go beyond what OPPO’s foldable offers here.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to launch next month, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
Chances are you won’t even notice the difference, though
With that being said, a higher resolution on one or two displays on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra probably won’t mean much to many of you. While it may be notably higher, almost nobody will be able to tell the difference. Both of those displays (on the Galaxy Z Fold 7) are already more than sharp enough, so… there you go.
