One of the standout features of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra this year is its built-in privacy display. This is a hardware-level feature, which means users don’t need to bother with privacy screen protectors. It’s actually pretty cool, and now a new report suggests the Xiaomi 18 Pro could come with its own privacy display as well.
Xiaomi 18 Pro could feature privacy display
This report comes from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, who alleges that the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro could sport a privacy display similar to that of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Now, it should be worth noting that Digital Chat Station doesn’t explicitly mention the Xiaomi 18 Pro, but many are speculating that that is the phone they are referring to.
Assuming that’s true, that would be pretty cool. It will also be interesting to see if Xiaomi could implement it differently or maybe even better than Samsung. One of the current criticisms of the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s privacy display feature is that it makes the screen look dimmer.
Samsung has acknowledged this, but the company believes that this is a trade-off for those who value their privacy. That being said, the feature can be disabled if you’d rather not use it, so it’s not as if it’s enabled all the time.
What else can we expect?
The rumor of a privacy display is the latest one we’ve heard regarding the Xiaomi 18 Pro. But what else can we expect from the phone? According to a more recent report, the phone is rumored to feature cameras that utilize LOFIC technology.
This is where the individual pixels of the camera sensor can store excess electrical charges in a dedicated capacitor. This will allow users to capture photos without blown out highlights and preserve more details. There have also been reports that claim the rear display of the phone will be upgraded and made slightly bigger.
Last but not least, there are claims that Xiaomi could actually launch the phone globally. This is great news as Xiaomi has typically kept the Pro variants exclusive to China. Either way, hopefully we’ll have the official details soon.
