Translucent consoles have been a thing in gaming since the days of the Game Boy color, and they’ve been a hit ever since, which is why it’s not shocking that the all-new Xbox Series X25 hardware seems to be a hit with fans. Over the weekend Microsoft held its latest Xbox Game Showcase as part of Summer Games Fest 2026, and during the event it unveiled the translucent green console to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Xbox did something similar with the 20th anniversary back in 2021.
As with the Galaxy edition Xbox Series X, this 25th anniversary edition will be a limited edition unit. Microsoft doesn’t say just how limited these will be, but considering you can still buy the Galaxy model, they may not be that limited. However, don’t be surprised if stock runs out quickly and it takes a bit to get more back in.
The Xbox Series X25 will be arriving in November
Microsoft has confirmed that the console will arrive in November as part of a limited edition collection. This will include the console itself and a controller just like the other versions of the console. You will also be able to buy the controller separately.
It’s still unclear what the console will cost. Considering the Carbon Black standard model is $649, the price for this version probably isn’t too far off. The Xbox Series X25 comes with 1TB of storage and a disc drive. Making it exactly the same as the standard model. At least when it comes to those components.
In addition to the translucent green shell, the Xbox button lights up in the iconic green on both the console and the controller. Microsoft says there are also a “few hidden surprises” for players to discover as a thank you to being part of the Xbox community. Perhaps this means a special boot-up sound and animation, or maybe some unique UI elements.
