About a week ago, Meta announced that it would be launching new subscription options for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Now, a post on the Instagram blog has revealed that a Plus paid plan is now live.
Instagram Plus has officially launched
Just in case you missed the previous announcement, here’s what you can expect from Instagram Plus. The subscription will give users access to features such as Story Spotlight. This means that any Stories you post will be prioritized for your followers. Then there is Story Extend, which extends a Story’s visibility from 24 hours to 48 hours.
Subscribers will also be able to create multiple audience lists, going beyond just “Close friends.” Then there are stats tools to let you preview stories, stats, and how often your stories were rewatched. You will also be able to search for people who have viewed your story. Lastly, if you don’t want your post to show up in the main feed, you can opt to publish it directly to your profile or highlights.
Subscribers can also look forward to additional customization. We’re talking about icons for the app and text font for bios, and users can pin up to six items on their profiles. They can also send animated super hearts when reacting to stories. Meta says there are plans to add more features in the future, but this is what is available at launch.
So, what’s the Instagram Plus price?
Instagram Plus isn’t particularly expensive, priced at $3.99 a month. However, we should note that the subscription is completely optional. If you don’t want to pay, you can keep using Instagram the same way you’ve been doing so all this while. Also, it looks like these features are aimed more at content creators.
We would have liked to see an option to pay to remove ads, similar to YouTube Premium. However, that doesn’t look like it’s in the cards for now. Are these features worth the $3.99 a month? That depends on how you use the app. If you’re a regular user, then maybe not. But if you’re a content creator, the stats, adjusting bio font, and extended stories seem like they could come in handy.
