This time around, we’re checking out two flip phone foldables. We’ll be comparing Motorola’s brand new base Razr model with one of Samsung’s foldables that arrived last year. In other words, we’ll be comparing the Motorola Razr 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. These two phones are different in many ways, though there are also some similarities between them. Both companies have more powerful flip phone foldable models, by the way.
As we usually do, we will first list the specs of both smartphones and will then move to compare them across a number of other categories. We will compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. If you’d like to try out a flip phone foldable, but are not ready to break the bank, these two devices are the ones to consider. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Motorola Razr 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Design
When looking at these two phones from the front, when unfolded, there are not many differences, in all honesty. Both of them have a large main display, with a centered display camera hole up top. The corners on both smartphones are rounded as well, to a similar degree. Both smartphones include physical buttons on the right-hand side only. The frame on both phones is made out of aluminum, but it’s different. It’s flat on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, while it curves a bit on the Motorola Razr 2026.
If we flip them around, you’ll notice different backplates. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has a smaller cover display, and on that phone, the cameras are not placed within the display. Samsung used a folder-type shape here on the cover display to place cameras outside of the display itself. Motorola opted to put them inside, in the top-left corners. Cameras on both phones are horizontally-aligned, though.
Backplates on both phones are flat and different. Samsung opted to use glass on the back, while Motorola used several materials. Depending on the color you get, you’ll get different materials on the back. So, you can technically end up with way more grip on the Motorola Razr 2026 than on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Both smartphones are IP48 certified, while the Motorola Razr 2026 is also MIL-STD-810H certified.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Display
The Motorola Razr 2026 has a 6.9-inch FOldable LTPO AMOLED display, which can project up to 1 billion colors. It has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a resolution of 2640 x 1080. Dolby Vision is supported here, as is HDR10+ content. This display goes up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 85%. The cover display measures 3.6 inches, and it’s an AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. HDR10+ content is supported here as well, while the display can show up to 1 billion colors. The peak brightness is 1,700 nits. This panel has a resolution of 1066 x 1056 pixels, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the flip side, features a 6.7-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X main panel. That display has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, while HDR10+ content is supported. The resolution is 2640 x 1080, and the peak brightness is 2,600 nits. The cover display measures 3.4 inches, and it’s a Super AMOLED panel. It supports a 60Hz refresh rate, and the resolution is 748 x 720 pixels. The peak brightness is 2,600 nits. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects this panel.
While all four of these displays are vivid and have good viewing angles, there are some differences to consider. The cover display on the Motorola Razr 2026 is not only sharper, but it has a higher refresh rate. Most people won’t really notice that, but it’s worth noting. All four panels are bright enough, even though technically the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE’s cover display does get brighter than the one on the Motorola Razr 2026. We did not really notice much of a difference in regular use, both are plenty bright.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Performance
MediaTek’s Dimensity 7450X processor, a 4nm chip, fuels the Motorola Razr 2026. That is one of MediaTek’s mid-range processors. It is paired with 8GB of RAM inside this smartphone, while the company also uses UFS 3.1 flash storage here. Do note that the storage is not expandable, though.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the other hand, is fueled by the Samsung Exynos 2400 processor. That is the company’s 4nm chip. That processor is paired with 8GB of RAM inside the phone, while Samsung also opted for UFS 4.0 flash storage here. The storage here is not expandable either.
When it comes to actual performance, both of these phones deliver. They offer really good day-to-day performance, from what we were able to see. We still have not fully reviewed the Motorola Razr 2026, but at first glance, it offers really good performance. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE did seem to be slightly snappier, though. It’s not on the same level as flagship flip phone foldables, though. Neither of these two phones is made for gaming.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Battery
The Motorola Razr 2026 includes a 4,800mAh battery on the inside, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is equipped with a 4,000mAh unit. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE definitely won’t win any awards when it comes to battery life. It’s fine and slightly better than the Motorola Razr 2025 offered, but if you’re a heavy user, you could have issues here. It’ll also depend on how much time you end up spending on the cover display, of course.
The Motorola Razr 2026 will offer better battery life. We did not fully review it, but from what we’ve seen, it does overshadow the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE in terms of battery life. That’s not exactly surprising considering that it has a notably larger battery pack, while the phone’s chip is also quite power-efficient. Your mileage may vary, though.
The Motorola Razr 2026 supports 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the other hand, supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE can be fully charged at around an hour and a half, and we’re expecting something similar from the Motorola Razr 2026. Do note that neither phone comes with a charger in the box, though.
Motorola Razr 2026 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Cameras
The Motorola Razr 2026 has two cameras on the back. It has a 50-megapixel main snapper with an f/1.7 aperture. This camera has a 1/1.95-inch sensor size, and OIS is supported. The second camera on the back is a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit with an f/2.0 aperture lens. It has a 1/2.76-inch sensor size and a 122-degree FoV.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, on the flip side, includes two rear cameras as well. A 50-megapixel main camera has an f/1.8 aperture lens and a 1/1.57-inch sensor size. Dual Pixel PDAF is also supported, as is OIS. The second camera is a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit with an f/2.2 aperture and a 1/3.2-inch sensor size. It has a 123-degree FoV.
We didn’t get to use the Motorola Razr 2026 for long, but it was enough to realize how differently the two camera setups perform. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE definitely loves saturated images more, and in general, it allows more light to enter a scene. Both main cameras do a good job with photos, but we’d give the edge to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. When it comes to ultrawide cameras, the one on the Motorola Razr 2026 does seem more appealing, though it’s several levels below the main snappers.
Audio
Both of these smartphones have stereo speakers. The ones on the Motorola Razr 2026 are a bit louder in comparison, though. The difference is not that big, but it’s worth noting. Sound output quality is good on both.
There is no audio jack on either of these two smartphones. You can use their Type-C ports to connect your wired headphones, though. Bluetooth 5.4 is supported on both devices, for wireless audio connectivity.
