Another wide foldable smartphone is in testing, it seems. The information comes from Digital Chat Station, one of the best-known tipsters around. He did reveal some details, but did not mention the name of the company behind the device.
A new wide foldable is coming from a mystery company with powerful specs
The tipster says that this foldable is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chip, so one of the chips from Qualcomm’s flagship chip series. Both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro are rumored.
Furthermore, the tipster says that this phone has a main display that measures 7.6 inches in diagonal. The cover display, on the other hand, measures 5.5 inches. He did mention several times that this is a wide foldable.
He also added, in the comments to this post, that the phone will launch in the first half of 2027. People started guessing which manufacturer is behind this phone, and most of them think it’s HONOR.
It’s most probably coming from HONOR or Vivo
That’s not necessarily true, but it’s the most probable answer, yes. Both Samsung and Apple are expected to announce wide foldables this year, and the same goes for OPPO. Vivo could do the same or wait until next year.
If we had to guess, we’d say that Digital Chat Station is talking about either HONOR or Vivo here. It could be either one of those two companies; we cannot be sure. Both of them are rumored to bring wide foldables, but most probably in H1 2027.
In any case, it seems like we’ll get quite a few wide foldables this year. Apple’s arrival to the market will certainly popularize that form factor, and plenty of OEMs are looking to get a piece of the pie.
