Toyota’s 2GR engine may not have the same iconic status as the 2JZ but it is a future star in the making. The 2JZ was famous for its role in the Mk IV Supra and later as an impressive and durable tuner engine. Debuting in the Toyota Aristo sedan, it was produced from 1991 up until 2002 – the flagship version was the 2JZ-GTE, which utilized a twin-turbo setup instead of the 2JZ-GE’s naturally aspirated system.
