One of the main draws of subscribing to YouTube Premium is that there are no ads. But if you need a more compelling reason, you’re in luck. Google has announced new features for YouTube Premium, including expanded On-the-Go mode, Auto Speed, and more.
YouTube Premium expands On-the-Go mode and more
According to the blog post, YouTube Premium is getting new features, such as expanded On-the-Go mode. For those unfamiliar, the On-the-Go mode gives users a simplified interface. It’s designed to be simple, which will come in handy for users to skip, queue, or adjust playback speed while they’re out and about.
Regarding the feature expansion, YouTube says, “Now available for Premium users on Android and coming to iOS in the months ahead, on-the-go mode lets you get the most out of playing videos in the background with easier access to listening controls – like skip forward and back – in order to optimize how you listen to your favorite podcasts, talk shows, true crime series, and more.”
YouTube is also bringing Auto speed to Premium users. This is a feature that speeds up videos in areas in the app that contain “slower speech or information-dense segments.” Given the age we live in where we want to consume content as fast as possible, this might be useful for some users.
Last but not least, YouTube Premium is introducing Ask Music for podcasts. This allows users to ask YouTube to recommend podcasts based on genres, moods, or topics you’re interested in.
Should you subscribe?
Like we said earlier, one of the main draws was removing ads from videos. However, there are a bunch of other features that could make it worth your while. This includes being able to download videos for offline watching. Plus, you get access to YouTube Music. Subscribers also gain access to certain content exclusive to them.
And on top of that, all the new features YouTube just announced above. YouTube Premium is priced starting at $15.99 a month for individual subscribers. It is more expensive than before, but given its features, it might actually be worth it.
