Domino’s newest menu item is fresh out of the oven, and the pizza restaurant chain is ready to give some away.
All you have to do is stop by a McDonald’s, Burger King, or other competing fast food chain first.
The newest product from Domino’s is a Detroit-style single-serve pizza, the first item to bear the company’s name: the Domino.
The rectangular pizza is made using parmesan cheese and a buttery-flavored pan dough, topped with two layers of cheese and a choice of three toppings and garlic seasoning.
Pizza for one
The new item, announced last month, steps back from the traditional social aspects of pizza consumption and instead lets customers enjoy the Domino—which is indeed in the shape of a domino, not a circle—without needing to share.
The Domino became available on Monday, August 31.
“The Domino was created for the way people eat today, where a meal doesn’t always mean sharing the same pizza,” Kate Trumbull, the chain’s global chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “It solves a problem traditional pizza never could: Everyone gets the toppings they love, without having to compromise.”
How the Domino stacks up
As Domino’s steps into the world of single-serve items, the company is giving away $1 million worth of the new Domino pizza to let customers decide if the item is worthy of its name, by stacking it against signature items from competitors.
Trumbull added, “We think it has what it takes to become an iconic menu item, and we want customers to try and decide for themselves.”
Those wishing to cash in on the giveaway must purchase one of the signature items from the following restaurants:
- Big Mac from McDonald’s
- Whopper from Burger King
- Crunchwrap Supreme from Taco Bell
- Chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A
- Burrito from Chipotle Mexican Grill
Once you’ve tried a competing offering, upload your receipt to the promotion’s official website to receive an offer code for a free Domino. The offer will be rolled out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
