The Sony Xperia 1 VIII has already surfaced in some images. Those images revealed the phone’s design, but the new image that contains two renders gives us a lot more information. This is our best look at the Sony Xperia 1 VIII yet.
The Sony Xperia 1 VIII has appeared in an official-looking image
The image comes from @mobaziro, and we’re not sure if it’s official, but it does look official. It also goes hand-in-hand with the images that surfaced recently. Whether it’s official or not, it does seem to show the design that Sony will use. You can check it out below.

Those of you who were hoping that Sony would jump to a punch hole design and ditch top and bottom bezels, well, it’s not happening. Those top and bottom bezels will not be thick, but they’re there.
The phone will utilize a flat display, though, of course, and its frame will also be flat all around. Sony will also stick with a side-facing fingerprint scanner, which will be built into the power/lock key. The volume up and down keys will sit above that power button.
There will be a third button on the right as well, the camera shutter, lower on the right side. That is also something we’re used to seeing from Sony’s smartphones.
The device will feature a different-looking camera island
On the back, the phone will feature a redesigned camera island. The Xperia 1 VII had three vertically-aligned cameras and a rather minimal camera island. The one on this model will be square, with two cameras in the first row, and one in the second.
The Sony Xperia 1 VIII is rumored to include three 48-megapixel cameras on the back. Sony will likely keep a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack on this device. Wireless charging will be supported, as will Wi-Fi 7.
If we had to guess, we’d say that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip will be used by Sony here, along with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 flash storage. It remains to be seen, though. The device is expected to arrive in May at the latest.
