Xiaomi could expand its foldable smartphone range by launching the MIX Fold 5 later this year. The company could also call the phone the Xiaomi 17 Fold, if we believe the rumors so far. It’ll arrive as the successor to 2024’s MIX Fold 4. Ahead of the launch, the reliable gadget tipster Digital Chat Station has shared the alleged price and some key specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi MIX Fold 5 or 17 Fold.

According to the source, Xiaomi could price the MIX Fold 5 around CNY 10,000, which roughly translates to $1,400. In comparison, the company launched the MIX Fold 4 at a starting price tag of CNY 8,999 or approximately $1,240. The most expensive variant of the phone costs around $1,510.
It looks like Xiaomi is planning to offer the MIX Fold 5 at a price close to rival offerings like the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung launched the phone at the starting price tag of $1,999.99, which goes all the way up to $2,419.99 for the most expensive variant.

The tipster has also shared some important details about the features of the MIX Fold 5. The phone’s prototype flaunts a 7.5-7.6-inch folding screen featuring “seamless crease” technology. Xiaomi’s latest foldable could flaunt a 200MP primary camera at the rear. Earlier reports said it could be a 200MP Samsung S5KHP5 sensor.
Furthermore, the source claims that the MIX Fold 5 will feature a full water-resistance rating and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Xiaomi is reportedly developing an in-house Xring chip for the new foldable smartphone.
As per the tipster, the phone will pack a 6,000mAh battery, which will support wireless charging. Lastly, the reports indicate that Xiaomi could launch the MIX Fold 5 in July to rival the upcoming foldables from Samsung around the same time.
