You’ve probably seen this played out before. A developer launches a new app, but it’s iOS only with Android coming later. Or when a new update or design is introduced, and it arrives on iOS first. Well, it looks like X users on Android are finally getting some love. The company has announced that they are finally launching the rebuilt X app for Android.
X app gets rebuilt for Android
According to the post on X, the company is launching the rebuilt app for Android. Why is this a big deal? For starters, when Elon Musk announced he would be acquiring the company, he also later announced plans to launch a rebuilt version of the Android app. This matters because the previous version of X simply did not hold up well compared to its iOS counterpart.
That has changed, because according to X, the new app has been rebuilt from the ground up. The post says, “It’s faster, smoother, and more reliable than the old version in every way. We modernized the foundation so everything just feels better: scrolling, loading, notifications, you name it.”
Back in August, X head of product Nikita Bier revealed that the company was assembling its Android “dream team.” Bier also later revealed that in October, X had one of its biggest weeks in terms of Android downloads. This was one of the reasons the Android version became a higher priority.

If you haven’t downloaded the app yet or haven’t updated it yet, it is available via the Google Play Store. However, it should be noted that it isn’t quite completely polished yet. According to Bier, he says that there are still some rough edges that need to be smoothened out. This includes performance on older Android devices. The app is also missing out on some features like Spaces.
However, those features are underway, but if you’re just looking to browse and maybe make some posts, then the current rebuilt version should be more than sufficient.
