Withings has launched the new BodyFit smart scale to make body composition tracking more affordable. If you’re wondering how, it offers many features from the pricier BodyScan model at a relatively affordable price of $280. It is apparently designed to support people using GLP-1 medications. There’s a 3.4-inch color screen on the scale that displays data.
Withings BodyFit is aimed at GLP-1 users who want to keep an eye on their muscle mass
The BodyFit follows the design language of the company’s flagship Body Scan. It features a tension-reel grab handle for segmented body composition and a single-lead ECG. Users will have to hold the bar in their hands at waist height for the system to measure muscle mass and health, as the scale sends a small current through your body to determine your six-segment body composition.Â
The six-zone scan is especially useful for anyone losing weight using GLP-1 medicines. It lets users track whether they’re losing muscle instead of fat. Additionally, the Withings app also offers coaching for weight goals, calorie balance, and recommendations for sustainable progress.
It also offers other smart health features
Withings claims that the Bioelectrical Impedance Spectroscopy it uses to create body composition analysis is equal to a clinical-grade procedure. In tests with French sports clinic Mon Stade, it compared its findings to a DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scan. This is a hospital-based method using X-rays to measure bone density. The company claims the BodyFit is 98% accurate for muscle mass and 99% accurate for fat mass.
The six-zone scan also offers an overall body profile, including hydration level and a BMI reading. Users also get smart features like standing heart rate, vascular age, metabolic health information, and 12-zone matrix data to identify muscle-to-fat distribution. For those looking for a personalized health plan and an AI health assistant, there’s the Withings+ subscription. It connects to your phone’s Bluetooth, and there’s built-in Wi-Fi too.
Withings BodyFit will set you back by $280. It is available to buy via the company’s online store, with availability on Amazon and at select retailers, like Best Buy, coming soon.
