The White House has launched a new website to promote President Trump’s agenda, a page that looks similar to the popular Drudge Report that has served as a must-read for conservative media members and political operatives for years.
The “White House Wire” site, which uses a .gov URL, on Thursday morning linked to a number of social media posts and articles from conservative outlets with headlines supportive of Trump and his policies.
The lead headline Thursday morning directed visitors to a social media video from Treasury Department Secretary Scott Bessent announcing the U.S. had struck a deal with Ukraine on rare earth minerals.
Many observers pointed out the website’s display, which uses large bold text on a black background, looks similar to Matt Drudge’s aggregation and tabloid website.
Once a strong supporter of the president, Drudge’s coverage of the president has soured in recent years.
“I’m considering a $1 trillion lawsuit!” the blogger joked Wednesday to Axios, which was first to report the site’s launch.
On Thursday, the lead headline on the Drudge Report read: “TRUMP LAUNCHING HIS OWN DRUDGE REPORT WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS.”
