New York City Mayor Eric Adams is set to brief reporters Wednesday afternoon — the same day a federal judge dismissed his criminal corruption case.
The decision, citing prejudice, ensures the charges cannot be refiled.Â
The ruling comes after the Department of Justice (DOJ) requested the case, where Adams was facing a range of charges alleging corruption based on allegations that for years he solicited and accepted bribes from wealthy foreign businesspeople. Several DOJ officials resigned over the request.
The embattled mayor was indicted in September on five counts, including bribery, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. EDT.
