The Vivo X Fold 6 is coming with a special edition MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor. That much has been confirmed by the company. The device itself is expected to arrive later this month… in China. The global variant will probably follow later on.
The Vivo X Fold 6 will include a new MediaTek flagship chip built for foldables
The company’s executive confirmed that the Vivo X Fold 6 will be the world’s first foldable with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor. This chip has been under development for over 2 years, it is said. It is also specifically designed for foldables.
The chip is said to offer smoother multitasking, faster multi-window rendering, and enhanced AI performance. It will also offer improved power efficiency on top of all that.
Vivo says that peak AI computing performance has increased by 111% compared ot the previous-gen NPU. Power consumption has been reduced by 56%, while the chipset is also said to enable 7% faster offline voice transcription and speed recognition. On top of all that, it will also offer a 57% improvement in text generation speeds.
To wrap it all up, Vivo also mentioned that this processor brings up to a 20% boost in AI reasoning capabilities. Vivo’s focus seems to be on multitasking and massive AI improvements.
The phone will also include OriginOS 6 Fold on top of Android
As some of you may remember, Vivo confirmed that OriginOS 6 Fold will come pre-installed on the Vivo X Fold 6. It will be packed with productivity-focused features, including a four-app multitasking mode.
That OS is focused on taking advantage of that large inner display that the Vivo X Fold 6 will offer. The phone is rumored to launch on June 25, but that has not been confirmed just yet. Vivo is expected to confirm the launch date very soon, though.
