If you pre-ordered an iPhone Duo through Verizon and it didn’t show up on launch day, you’re not alone. Verizon is apologizing to customers whose orders were delayed, and it’s offering a $100 gift card to make up for it. That’s little comfort if you were itching to try Apple’s first foldable, but it’s better than nothing, especially for anyone who skipped the many great Android phones out there to wait for it.
PhoneArena says that Verizon emailed affected customers about an “unexpected shipping delay” that’s pushing back some deliveries. Many customers who were originally promised their iPhone Duo on October 23 are now seeing new delivery dates between October 31 and November 14.
“We owe you an apology,” Verizon said in the email. The carrier also told customers their order is secure and their place in line hasn’t changed.
Not every Verizon customer is affected. Plenty of buyers received their iPhone Duo on launch day, but many others have posted about delays on Reddit, the MacRumors Forums, and other social media.
How to get your $100 Verizon gift card
If your order was delayed, you don’t need to do anything to claim the gift card. Verizon says affected customers will receive a separate email this week with the gift card details. You can use the card online or in Verizon stores toward your bill or merchandise.
In the meantime, you can check your order status on the My Orders page in the My Verizon app or on Verizon’s website.
The delays aren’t too surprising given how hard the iPhone Duo has been to get. When pre-orders opened on October 16, delivery dates on Apple’s website slipped to late January within about 30 minutes. Some buyers later saw their dates move up, but stock is still extremely tight. Apple Store employees were also reportedly told to warn walk-in shoppers that launch day stock would be limited.
It’s unclear what caused Verizon’s delay specifically. It could be a supply issue on Apple’s end, a Verizon shipping problem, or both. Either way, delays are pretty common with brand-new Apple products, especially one as hyped as the Duo.
Personally, I think $100 is a fair gesture from Verizon. A one- to three-week delay is frustrating when you’ve already paid for a $1,999 phone, but at least Verizon is owning the mistake instead of leaving customers in the dark. And on the bright side, by the time your Duo arrives, iOS 27.2 should be out with Apple Pencil support.
