The Toyota turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder (known internally as the G16E-GTS) is a little wonder. In the latest version, it makes 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Those figures would be impressive enough for a force-fed four-cylinder but are even more extraordinary in a powerplant with just three pistons reciprocating up and down.
