A while back, we shared the Galaxy S27 Ultra CAD-based renders, thus revealing the phone’s design. A couple of days ago, some changes inside the camera module were detailed – very small changes.
The order of things inside the pill-shaped cutout changes, as the telephoto camera now sits at the top, followed by a microphone, some sensors (laser autofocus), and a flash.
Tipsters just can’t agree on where the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s telephoto camera will be located
Well, some tipsters don’t agree. Anthony, aka TheGalox, seemingly claims that the telephoto camera is still at the bottom. Another tipster, kro, seems to agree with that, despite the fact that OnLeaks reported otherwise.
That same tipster, kro, says that the telephoto camera will remain at the bottom, while the autofocus sensor has been moved to the top. He claims that Samsung also redesigned the internal structure of the telephoto module.
The company allegedly did that to make it significantly smaller than the previous generation, without sacrificing performance. It remains to be seen which tipster is accurate in terms of the order of things inside that pill-shaped cutout.
The phone will feature a 5x periscope telephoto camera
Ice Universe said, a couple of days ago, that the company is ditching a 3x telephoto camera, and that we’ll be getting a 5x periscope telephoto camera on this phone. That will be the only zoom camera on the device. Samsung is allegedly not aiming to deliver new telephoto camera hardware, though.
The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will become official in the first quarter of next year. It’s almost certainly coming in January or February along with the Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Needless to say, the ‘Ultra’ model will be the most powerful in the lineup. It will have that new camera plateau on the back; that’s the main design change compared to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
