Meta announced Wednesday that its popular social media platform Threads is getting new features for podcast creators. The new tools will help creators promote their shows, reach new listeners, and keep existing audiences engaged. The firm isn’t becoming another podcast-streaming platform; it is adding a new way to promote and share shows.
Threads get new tools for podcast creators
X has been pushing podcast creators to host the content directly on its platform. And as we all know, Threads is a direct rival of X. The company had to react one way or the other. While the company isn’t adding a podcast-hosting feature yet, it is adding new features to promote podcast shows and relevant content on its platforms.
Threads will now show a podcast profile card and banner on creator profiles and posts. Moreover, if a content creator posts an episode link, the platform will turn that into a tappable card. This will make it easier for the user to listen to the episode directly. Creators can also post transcripts of the show directly on the platform. They can also tag guests featured in the show.
Creators can now get more reach and audience
Threads is also adding reminders for creators when a new episode is released. It reminds and encourages hosts to share their latest episodes on the platform and stay connected with listeners. Creators will also get access to new insight tools. The tool will show views from followers, non-followers, and the total audience. Basically, Meta wants podcast creators to be active on its platform as much as possible.
Earlier this year, Threads added several new podcast-related features. The list included improved link cards and an option for creators to connect their Threads profiles with their podcasts. As said earlier, Threads doesn’t want to become yet another podcast-hosting service. Instead, it wants to become a platform for promotion and discussion for such content.
