If you’re planning to buy the iPhone Duo, you should definitely buy AppleCare+. We know that it’s going to be an extra cost, one that’s not exactly cheap, but when you see the repair costs for the iPhone Duo, you might reconsider it.
How much does it cost to repair the iPhone Duo?
Apple has officially published the repair costs for the iPhone Duo on its website, and let’s just say that it is not cheap. How much are we talking about? Let’s start with the cheapest item on the list, and that is the cover layer. Apple previously confirmed that users could get the cover layer replaced for $19 with AppleCare+, but if you’re paying out of pocket, that jumps to $49. Honestly, $49 isn’t too bad, but that’s where the good news ends. According to Apple:
- Cover layer damage – $49
- Back glass damage – $199
- Battery service – $229
- Rear camera damage – $229
- Outer display damage – $379
- Outer display and back glass damage – $509
- Inner display damage – $999
- Other damage – $1,499
Yup, you read that right. The price of repairs can jump to $1,499, which either makes more sense to just buy a new phone or get a cheaper phone, like the iPhone 18 Pro series. We can’t believe we just called the iPhone 18 Pro “cheaper,” but that’s the reality of the repair costs.
How much will you save with AppleCare+?
The good news is that buying AppleCare+ will reduce those repair fees considerably. For starters, you get free battery replacement when its capacity dips below 80%. Then like we said, the cover layer will only cost $19 instead of $49. As for the rest of the iPhone Duo repairs, here’s what Apple says:
- Back glass damage – $29
- Outer display damage – $29
- Inner display damage – $99
- Other accidental damage – $99
- Theft or loss – $149
Basically, these are just service fees you’ll have to pay, which is considerably cheaper. However, it’s worth noting that AppleCare+ isn’t cheap. It is priced at $19.99 a month, or $199.99 for an annual subscription, or $399 for a two-year plan. Ultimately it is still cheaper if it covers issues like inner display damage or what Apple calls “other” damage.
Customers have 60 days from the date of purchase to buy AppleCare+ coverage. So you still have time to think about it.
