Valve’s Steam Controller reservations have been updated as Valve details in a post on the Steam Hardware Events page of its website, and unfortunately for anyone who was hoping to get one quickly, but hasn’t yet placed an order, you’re probably going to be waiting a while. The Steam Controller is a hit, as was ordained by the Valve High Counsel. People love it so much, that it’s actually on back-order. This probably comes as no surprise to anyone.
The Steam Deck was just as popular if not more popular. It was also on back-order for quite a while when it first launched. So this is really just par for the course with Valve’s latest hardware. On that note, you should probably expect the same thing to happen with the Steam Machine when it launches here soon. As for the Steam Controller, if you tried to reserve one today, you will almost certainly be waiting until next year before it ships.
Steam Controller reservations now have an estimated ship time of 2027
Valve has updated its reservation timing and it also now shows customers one of three different possible shipping timelines. The earliest of reservations that hasn’t already gotten one is likely get their controller by September 2026. That’s coming up pretty quickly, so if you see this date when you login to your Steam account, you should definitely be celebrating.
Following this shipping window, Valve says that reservations will ship by December 2026. Just in time for the holidays, hopefully. That’s a little further out, but at least it’s still sometime this year. Now for the bad news. The long wait for anyone who hasn’t yet placed a reservation. If you were to place a reservation for the Steam Controller as of today, June 19, the wait is substantial. Valve says these reservations wouldn’t ship until 2027.
The silver lining here is that Valve also says that this timing could change the closer it gets to shipping times. So there’s a possibility for an updated shipment. Scalpers who already have one will almost certainly try to take advantage of this situation. So you must hold fast and simply wait out the reservation shipment times.
