Google hasn’t just rolled out the new Android Feature Drop for Android devices this week, it’s also started rolling out the first official software update for the month of September on the Pixel Watch 5. This new update introduces a considerable number of changes but this isn’t a new version of Wear OS. Users will still be on Wear OS 7, which is what the Pixel Watch 5 launched with.
While the update started rolling out on September 1, it won’t reach all users at the same exact time, Google has confirmed in its blog post that the update will continue to roll out “over the coming weeks” so users might need to periodically check to see if the update is available to install. If you’re not in a hurry to download it, then you can simply wait for the update to land on your watch automatically through the over-the-air update.
The Pixel Watch 5 September 2026 update brings Proactive Suggestions and offline Gemini
Google’s official changelog shows a pretty big list of changes that are present in this update, and two of those changes are the ability to use Gemini while your watch is offline, and the Proactive Suggestions feature. With Proactive Suggestions you’ll basically get to turn a series of actions that take several steps and complete them with a single tap in Messages, and the information pops up on the watch so you won’t have to pull your phone out of your pocket.
Gemini offline is just like it sounds. It’s Gemini but without internet, while still providing low-latency responses using on-device processing.
Additionally, this update also introduces Gemini Personalization, which can take information from apps like Gmail and Calendar and surface that information for you in response to requests like “what’s on my calendar today?” Other changes include improvements made to Raise to Talk, more accurate GPS route tracking, and even more ways to use hand gestures, such as double pinching to scroll through cards in the Wallet app.
