The next tri-fold smartphones will become official in less than a week. The device in question is the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design, as the company confirmed its launch date. It’s September 7, in case you’re wondering.
The Huawei Mate XT 2 is coming on September 7, the world’s next tri-fold smartphone
A couple of days ago, we managed to see the phone’s design. It was shown by the company’s executive and also shared via some videos. The design itself is no longer a secret, and it’s official, basically.
Huawei will change up the folding style this time around. It will ditch the Z folding style, which includes a single display. The phone will have a main, foldable display and a secondary display on the back, which will not be foldable.
That rear display will sit in a different spot compared to what the Galaxy Z TriFold offers, but the folding style will be the same. You will no longer be able to fold just one side and use a near-8-inch panel. You’ll be able to choose between a large, fully unfolded phone or a cover display only.
This setup will probably be preferred by many as it does not expose the main display at any point. Opinions differ, of course, but from what we’ve read online, people do prefer this way. That could be the reason why Huawei opted to change things up.
We’re expecting compelling camera hardware once again
The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design will once again have a compelling camera setup on the back, it seems. It will arrive in a couple of color options, and all models will offer 16GB of RAM. There will be several storage options on offer, though.
We do expect to see this phone in global markets as well. However, the September 7 launch event is for China only. If the global launch occurs, it will happen at a later date, which is unsurprising.
