A new leak has surfaced for the ASUS Googlebook CX9406, and upcoming laptop in Google’s unreleased Googlebook product category, and it details everything from specs to how much the laptop might actually cost. A different Googlebook leak claimed that Google will be holding a preview event for the Googlebooks in September, which isn’t expected to hold any announcements, but rather give media the chance to learn information about the upcoming laptops while also getting some hands-on time with them.
It hasn’t been made clear if this ASUS Googlebook would be at the event. The leak does mention several key specifications, though, as well as a potential price. The leak claims that the ASUS Googlebook CX9406 will come in multiple configurations to give consumers choices. It’s also claimed to be a pretty costly laptop.
The leak claims the ASUS Googlebook CX9406 will cost $1,399 USD
This isn’t a guaranteed price because it’s based on exchange rates, but the leak is claiming that the Googlebook from ASUS will cost $1,959.99 CAD based on a leaked listing that was discovered with early retail pricing, and that exchanges to around $1,399.99. Some Chromebooks have been close to this price, so it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
In terms of specs, the leak claims that the ASUS Googlebook will come with 16GB of RAM, and that that model will come with an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 CPU. It’s also stated to come with 512GB of internal storage, as well as a 14-inch display that features a touchscreen and has the glowbar on the lid.
This particular configuration has considerably less RAM than previous leaks have mentioned, which noted up to 64GB of RAM at the top end. ASUS is one of many manufacturing partners that Google is said to have for these new laptops, while others include Acer, Lenovo, Dell, and more.
