By now, it’s almost a guarantee that the iPhone 18 Pro will launch in a new Dark Cherry finish. Thanks to a recent post on Weibo by tipster Instant Digital, a photo of the iPhone 18 Pro SIM tray in its new color has been leaked, confirming the earlier rumors. However, their post also seems to have contradicted other rumors as well.
iPhone 18 Pro Dark Cherry new color confirmed
One thing to note about the photo is that the SIM tray shows the new color of the iPhone 18 Pro. However, it appears to be darker compared to some of the previous leaks we’ve seen. It is possible that this is due to lighting. It is also possible that the earlier leaks were dummy units, which might not have bothered to color match it to Apple’s standards.
If anything, the SIM tray’s color seems more in line with the renders, which shows a darker shade of red/purple, whereas the previous leaks looked brighter. At this point we’re not sure which is more accurate, so we’ll have to wait and see. Personally, I’m hoping it turns out to be a darker shade.Â
The earlier leaked photos show a brighter red look borderline garish. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see. Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and Ultra this September. Seeing as we’re already in July, that’s just a couple more months of waiting to get the official details.
No black?
Now, so far the leaks and rumors all seem to confirm the color options: Dark Cherry, Sky Blue, and Black. However, according to Instant Digital, there won’t be a black option. In their reply to their post, the tipster says that the other two color options are blue and silver-gray. That’s kind of a pity if that’s true.
Yes, we know that phones in black and white look boring. However, they are neutral enough for some who might want to avoid brighter colors. Silver-gray is still somewhat neutral, but we’re sure there are some who prefer all-black or all-white. In the past, Apple has always given users a darker option, so it’s a bit strange they might be skipping that this year.
