After rumors of a ‘Pro’ model coming in the Galaxy S26 series fell flat, the rumor is back again for the Galaxy S27 series. And this time, there’s a leak about its camera hardware that might make you want it over the Ultra.
The main camera and ultrawide will be the same on the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, but the telephoto will be different.
The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to use a 50MP ALoP unit with 3.5x optical zoom, where the Galaxy S27 Ultra will sport a 50MP camera with a longer zoom range of 5x. And the good news here is, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to be ditching that ill-fated 3x telephoto camera that we’ve all ragged on for years.
This means the main difference between the two cameras is the zoom range. And since Samsung is likely going to use the 200MP main camera for zoom up to 5x, the Pro might actually offer a better camera experience.
It’s important to keep in mind that things can change. Samsung likely has a number of different prototypes for both models that are being tested. So things could change between now and early next year.
Samsung could finally build the “smaller” flagship we always wanted
The problem with Samsung’s Galaxy S series is that there’s really only one flagship, and then two lesser-flagships at smaller sizes. And typically, customers either want the smaller phone, or they want the absolute best flagship Samsung has, which is the Ultra.
That left the ‘Plus’ model as a red-headed stepchild that sold the least amount of its brothers in recent years. So, it looks like Samsung is finally looking to rectify that, with a new ‘Pro’ model. Which is expected to be a slightly less flagship device compared to the Galaxy S27 Ultra, but still act as a flagship. The biggest difference is the S Pen.
