Earlier this week, T-Mobile had a pretty massive nationwide outage, and obviously, many people were not happy about it. Now, to make amends for the outage, T-Mobile is giving some customers a credit of up to $20. While it might not sound like a lot, it is better than nothing.
According to Reddit, all you need to do to get this credit is get in touch with T-Mobile’s customer support and ask for compensation for the July 27 outage. Some Redditors are saying that you will initially be offered a measly $5 for the troubles. But if you press more or politely highlight that doesn’t make you “feel valued” you can get up to $20. This all depends on the agent you’re speaking with, of course.
It’s worth noting that for a few hours outage, you shouldn’t expect to get more than $20. That would be pretty unreasonable, seeing as you pay less than that per day, to T-Mobile.
T-Mobile’s Monday Outage was quickly resolved
On Monday, when this outage took place, T-Mobile was able to quickly resolve it (officially), though T-Mobile still has not said what caused the outage. Many people saw their signal disappear, or if they were using an iPhone, it just went into SOS mode. The outage lasted a couple of hours, depending on where you are.
While outages are not new, it is pretty rare to see a massive outage like this affecting the entire country. Typically, these network outages only affect a small portion of the US, like the East Coast. It’s worth noting that AT&T and Verizon were also having issues on Monday, so T-Mobile was not alone, however their outage was the largest.
If you’re on an MVNO using T-Mobile’s network like US Mobile or Google Fi, you may not get any sort of credit. That’s one of the differences between going postpaid vs prepaid, unfortunately.
