You usually need a thick physical cable that plugs directly into your laptop to send high frame rate gaming data through an external graphics enclosure. A startup named WiCi, a member of Nvidia’s Inception program, is taking an entirely different approach with the WiCi One, an eGPU setup that tries to stream desktop graphics processing over Wi-Fi 7.
As reported by VideoCardz, the device is built like a standalone mini-PC rather than a basic dock. The base enclosure packs an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB graphics card, an Intel Core 3 100U processor, and 1TB of NVMe Gen 4 storage into a compact chassis.
Software compression vs hardware bandwidth constraints
The biggest technical challenge for any wireless eGPU comes down to physical throughput. Traditional wired standards like Thunderbolt 4 push 32Gbps, while Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink handle up to 64Gbps over PCIe. In contrast, WiCi’s 4×4 MIMO Wi-Fi 7 radio operating on a 320 MHz channel reaches a physical layer rate of roughly 11.5Gbps.
To prevent severe bottlenecking, WiCi engineered driver software that handles data caching, deduplication, and compression before transmitting commands over the air. The system processes local hardware requests on the client machine and only sends essential instructions over the wireless link.
WiCi claims the setup can push 80 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra with DLSS 4 and 60 FPS in Black Myth: Wukong. However, latency constraints remain a hurdle for real-time gaming where frames must render every 16.67 milliseconds.
Multi-device AI workloads and flagship hardware plans, starts at $1,999
Beyond gaming, WiCi is pitching the unit as a shared compute hub for local artificial intelligence and 3D rendering. Python libraries and standard HTTP APIs allow multiple laptops on the same network to access the GPU simultaneously. Meanwhile, an integrated 4TB PCIe 5.0 SSD holds large Mixture-of-Experts model weights directly inside the box.
The base configuration is available in early access for $1,999 before rising to $2,599 at its Q4 2026 launch. WiCi is also developing an enthusiast variant equipped with a flagship RTX 5090 (32GB GDDR7), an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, and 4TB of PCIe 5.0 storage, targeting power users willing to pay a premium for wireless GPU pooling.
