Spotify is celebrating its 20th birthday with something it’s calling “Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s).” As a refresher, the popular audio streaming platform was founded in April 2006. But it was officially available to the public only in October 2008. It now wants to celebrate the occasion with its users with the ‘Your Party of the Year(s)’ theme. It’s not your usual yearly wrap-up; instead, it captures your entire journey on the app over the years. Think of it as a walk down memory lane.
Spotify celebrates its 20th birthday with a Wrapped‑like ‘Your Party of the Year(s)’ feature
The “Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s)” lets you revisit your time on the music streaming platform. It will show your first day on the platform, the total number of songs you’ve listened to, the first streamed track, and your all-time most-played artist. It also offers a playlist that includes a collection of your top 120 songs. You can also save this to your library to revisit it.
Much like Wrapped, Spotify will also provide listeners with a custom share card with all the aforementioned data. They can save, share on their social media handles, or send it to friends to engage in conversations. This is a sweet, nostalgia-driven way to revisit old memories, or as Spotify puts it, “Step back in time to celebrate your first listens and all-time hits.”
This is a mobile-only in-app experience
That said, this whole Spotify’s 20th birthday experience is available only on the mobile app. It’s available across 144 countries and in 16 languages. To access it, open the app on your mobile phone and search for “Spotify 20” or “Party of the Year(s).” This is available to everyone, including those using the app without a Premium subscription. So, if you ever wondered what song you first listened to on Spotify, now is the time to find out.
