After the initial testing in New Zealand earlier this year, Spotify is now rolling out Taste Profile in beta to premium users who are 18 and above in the US. The feature gives users more control over recommendations. With Spotify’s Taste Profile launch in the US, users can customize their music feed and what they see on the homepage as per their liking.
Spotify’s Taste Profile finally comes to US users
With Taste Profile, Spotify users can explore beyond their usual taste or fine-tune what they already like. For the first time, you can see Spotify’s brief take on your taste across music, podcasts, and audiobooks. You’ll also be able to directly shape what gets recommended next on your Home feed. The feature is straightforward, where it takes a rather conversational approach.
To access this, tap the profile picture in the app’s top corner and select the Taste Profile option from there. You’ll see a “Tell us more” text box. Here you can naturally describe what you want Spotify to show you more or less of. The audio-streaming platform notes that this will help shape what you see on your Home feed. That includes music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Not limited to music genres
These conversational notes aren’t limited to music genres. Users can describe a mood, emotion, or an area of interest, like history, technology, or art. Spotify will adjust the recommendations accordingly. This gives more flexibility on what shows up on your home feed. The company says the changes will typically appear within a few hours. Users can edit or delete their notes whenever they want.
If you’re unsure of what you want to hear, you can simply leave your Taste Profile as is and continue to enjoy Spotify as usual. Besides the Taste Profile feature, Spotify is reportedly also working on a cache limit feature that will let users control how much space its temporary files use on their phone.
