SpaceXAI is preparing another major shakeup for X (formerly Twitter), and this time, the company is placing its Grok AI assistant at the very heart of the social network. Internal documents outline a proposed strategy to merge X social media features and Grok capabilities into a unified four-tier subscription framework.
The new lineup would span from a free plan with tighter Grok usage limits all the way to a $100-per-month “Ultra” tier built for power users, according to Bloomberg. SpaceXAI has not officially confirmed the changes. However, the proposal reveals how aggressively the platform is weaving artificial intelligence into its primary business model.
From an $8 Lite tier to a $100 power user plan
Under the proposed lineup, X would roll out a new $8-per-month “Lite” option. Despite early rumors suggesting a cheaper route to account verification, the $8 price tag matches current web rates for X Premium. The Lite tier bundles basic Grok usage, reduced advertising, and the traditional blue verified badge.
At the highest end of the spectrum, the $100 Ultra tier caters to heavy workflows by adding Grok Bot—an autonomous agent built to carry out tasks on a user’s behalf. Currently, X offers web subscriptions starting at $3 for Basic, $8 for Premium, and $40 for Premium+, which provides SuperGrok, Grok Bot, and an ad-light feed. While $100 a month sounds like a big jump, it remains far below high-end rival offerings, such as OpenAI’s $500 monthly ChatGPT tier.
Why Grok is driving X’s subscription pricing
This is not the first time X has revamped its pricing around AI developments. Following the release of Grok 3 in 2025, X increased the monthly cost of Premium+ from $22 to $40.
If SpaceXAI officially adopts this four-tier structure, choosing a subscription will come down to how much social media functionality you need versus how much AI computing power you want. For now, these plans remain under internal evaluation as the tech giant fine-tunes its subscriber options.
