Sony’s The ColleXion headphones have seemingly leaked via real life images, as what appear to be the ColleXion headphones have been spotted in the wild being worn. Sony is suspected to officially unveil the headphones a few weeks from now, so it’s not unreasonable to think that there might already be a few pairs floating around with well-connected individuals.
That seems to be exactly the case, as actor Damson Idris (F1: The Movie) was seen walking around New York City wearing a pair of these new headphones in White. It should be made clear that it isn’t confirmed that these are the new WH-1000XX The ColleXion headphones. That’s the speculation, however, given that these look very similar to the WH-1000XM6.
Leaked images of the Sony The ColleXion headphones show a new hinge design
One of the main complaints that you can find around the web about the past two pairs of Sony’s WH-1000X lineup is about the hinge design. Specifically that it has a problem with breaking even if the headphones are treated well. Sony seems to be changing the headband with the headphones shown in these pics, as it now appears to be made from a metal material as opposed to plastic. One of the images also shows what looks like the new case that comes with these.
This stronger material could help prevent breaks around the area that people claim to experience the issue. In addition to the metal headband, the headphone jack on the left ear cup has a metal lining. As part of these changes, the headphones are rumored to weigh more than the WH-1000XM6. That might be an issue for some who highly value the lightweight design of Sony’s previous models.
The use of metal in some areas also classifies these as more of a premium pair of headphones, and the price will most definitely reflect that, as these are rumored to cost about $649.
