The Sony Xperia 10 VII debuted way back in September 2025. That’s close to a year now, and it’s almost time for a successor. While we wait for Sony to reveal more details, a mysterious new Sony Xperia phone, likely the 10 VIII, appeared on the Geekbench benchmark platform. This reveals some of its hardware specs, like chipset, RAM, and OS details before launch. Here’s what’s been revealed.
Sony Xperia 10 VIII stops by Geekbench
A Sony handset with the model number XQ-GH54 has made an appearance on Geekbench 7.0. This is likely the Sony Xperia 10 VIII (MK8). The listing reveals it has managed to score 871 in the single-core round and 3028 in the multi-core segment. These are pretty mid-range scores for today’s standard. So don’t go expecting exceptional performance.
The listing reveals the handset boots Android 16 OS out of the box. We’ll have to see when Sony will push the latest Android 17 upgrade after it launches. The 8GB RAM (7.27GB) variant of the phone was used for testing. There could also be other options at launch, hopefully.
No real performance upgrades
As for the chipset, the Sony Xperia 10 VIII seems to get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip (SM6475), with four cores clocked at 1.80GHz and four cores at 2.40GHz. For reference, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chip went official way back in 2024 and is also present in last year’s Xperia 10 VII. This means the successor isn’t getting any major performance upgrades. Considering the ongoing surge in component costs, this doesn’t really come as a big surprise.
Besides Geekbench, the only other information we have about the Xperia 10 VIII is its IMEI database listing, which revealed only its model number. We’ll probably learn more about the device in the coming days.
