Pixel phones aren’t that much different from other Android phones in that they’re not exempt from experiencing a wide array of potential bugs, and unfortunately the latest one appears to be a slow performance bug that is plaguing users. Pixel devices have never been the powerhouse performance phones, at least not from a multitasking or gaming standpoint, but they have generally been pretty snappy and fluid to use. That seems to have disappeared for some users following the most recent updates.
This particular bug is just the latest in a series of bugs Pixel owners have been facing. Earlier this month, several users have been complaining about the battery drain bug. This has been tied to the recent April update that went out earlier in the month. Even further back, users began reporting of a bug that was causing boot loops following the march update. The boot loop issue is arguably the most concerning of the few that have popped up, but the performance slow-down is surely no picnic.
A slow performance bug is creeping through Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 owners
While it’s possible that this bug could be impacting more than a few Pixel generations, Android Authority reports that most of these complaints seem to be coming from Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 owners. That being said, neither of these phones is really that old. Especially when you consider that starting with the Pixel 8, Google committed to 7 years of updates. So there are likely going to be a lot of people sticking with these phones for a while.
That makes for all the more of a reason for Google to hopefully get a fix out quickly. Google doesn’t seem to have acknowledged the bug so users shouldn’t expect a fix coming anytime in the immediate future. It’s also possible that some users may not even notice the slow-down. Overall the bug being present isn’t great, but it might not be the end of the world.
