The foldable smartphone market has long felt like a two-horse race. However, Motorola is preparing to challenge that narrative. After a brief preview in January that left fans with more questions than answers, the company has officially confirmed that it will reveal “every detail” of the much-anticipated Motorola Razr Fold on March 2, a timing that coincides with the opening of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona.
Motorola Razr Fold: Every detail to be confirmed next week at MWC 2026
Motorola is keeping several technical aspects under wraps. Still, confirmed specs suggest a device built for heavy media consumption and productivity. The Razr Fold will feature a massive 8.1-inch primary display and a 6.6-inch cover screen. This makes it one of the larger options in its category.
On the photography front, the hardware looks promising. There are reports of a triple 50MP rear camera setup, including a periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The handset will also be compatible with the Moto Pen Ultra stylus, which is great for a book-like foldable. It seems that Motorola is targeting the professional crowd currently using Samsung’s Fold series.
The price and performance balance
The biggest question mark remains the internal hardware. Rumors suggest a potential starting price of around $1,500 in the U.S. market. If this holds true, it would undercut the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 by several hundred dollars.
That said, there could be some trade-offs to achieve that lower price. Some sources suggest that the Razr Fold might come with a slightly less powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 present in other top-of-the-line 2026 phones, for instance. However, there are still quite powerful and more affordable chipsets available.
Motorola’s strategy seems to be a race against the clock. It seems they aim to capture the attention of buyers before Samsung refreshes its lineup in the summer. To be truly successful, Motorola needs to announce not just the specs but a concrete release date. Let’s hope to get all the details we want to know in Barcelona next week.
