One of the best-known tipsters out there is now hyping up Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable. The information comes from Ice Universe who said that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, aka Wide Fold will be “unbeatable” as far as weight and thickness are concerned.
A well-known tipster claims Samsung’s wide foldable will be unbeatable in two ways
That is basically all the information that the tipster shared thus far, but it’s great to hear. It would be outstanding to know more specific details regarding both weight and thickness, but, this’ll have to do, for now.
As a reminder, we did share the design of this smartphone a while back, based on CAD-based renders. Based on that info, the phone will measure 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9mm (4.3mm without protruding bezels on the front).
When folded, the device will measure 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8mm. If we throw a camera bump into the thickness measurement, it goes up to 14.6mm. Do note that these are based on CAD renders, and final specs could differ a bit.

Now, if we compare the thickness of this phone with the OPPO Find N6, it won’t exactly beat it in terms of thickness. Based on the info from CAD-based renders, Samsung’s handset will be almost 1mm thicker when folded. So we’re not really sure what Ice Universe is talking about. It does not yet have direct competition in the wide foldable space, so… who knows what the tipster is aiming at.
What about weight? Well, there’s a very good chance it will be notably lighter than the OPPO Find N6. The Find N6 weighs 225 grams, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 weighs 215 grams. It is said that it will be lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which means lighter than 215 grams.
If we take into consideration that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is tipped to be lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the company’s wide foldable lighter than the Fold 8… well, it could be notably below that 215-gram mark.
It is coming in July
Samsung’s very first wide foldable is coming in July, almost certainly. July 22 is currently rumored as the launch date, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 will launch during that event as well.
