Samsung’s latest rugged smartphone is now getting the One UI 9.0 update in the US. The device in question is the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro, and the Android 17-based One UI 9.0 is rolling out as we speak.
Samsung’s newest rugged phone is now receiving One UI 9 in the US
It is coming to the carrier-locked variant of the phone first, though. This update follows the initial rollout, which occurred in South Korea. The factory-unlocked variant of the device will get it soon, if it hasn’t by the time you’re reading this.
The device will let you know once the update is available, but you can always check on your own, of course. You can do so via the Settings -> Software update -> Check for updates menu. That could speed things up a bit.
This update delivers a number of updates to the phone. You’ll be able to customize the Quick Panel to a greater degree. Samsung DeX and Notes have been updated as well, and this update also delivers a location privacy indicator.
Those are only some of the updates One UI 9.0 brings, in addition to all the underlying Android 17 changes that Google announced. As a reminder, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro launched in April 2025.
The phone launched a year and a half ago, but Samsung has not announced its successor
The phone is about a year and a half old at this point, but its successor has not arrived yet, which makes it the newest rugged smartphone from the company. It is both IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certified.
The device launched with Android 15, with One UI 7 on top. Samsung did not specify how many updates the phone will get, though. One UI 9.0 is its second major Android OS update, though. We do know that it will be getting 7 years’ worth of security updates, though.
This is just one of many Samsung phones that have received One UI 9.0 in the last month or so. Samsung has been excellent when it comes to promptly pushing out software updates for years now.
