The regulatory puzzle for Samsung‘s next massive hardware blitz is close to completion. We previously tracked the U.S. regulatory approvals for most of the company’s upcoming summer portfolio. However, one major flagship was notably missing from the party. That waiting game ends today, as the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has finally surfaced in official FCC listings, taking a massive step closer to its commercial release.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (SM-F976U) joins the FCC listing club
As spotted by Android Authority, the premium foldable appeared under the model number SM-F976U. This specific device serves as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. Earlier filings already gave the green light to the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the standard Galaxy Watch 9 series, and the rugged Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Still, fans were eagerly waiting for the top-tier Ultra foldable to make its mandatory pit stop at the federal database.
FCC documentation is traditionally dry when it comes to explicit marketing names or granular feature sheets. However, the arrival of the Ultra model clarifies the launch timeline. Consumer tech brands only push finalized hardware to U.S. regulators when a product is completely ready for mass production and retail distribution.
Rumors surrounding the newly certified Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra point to significant hardware upgrades. The premium device is expected to pack a larger battery capacity, a brand-new high-performance chipset, and potentially the return of integrated S Pen support to maximize the expansive internal display.
A few wild cards remain
Even though the arrival of the Fold 8 Ultra rounds out the primary summer ecosystem, a couple of rumored devices are still floating under the radar. The tech community is still waiting on an official FCC listing for the standard “wide” version of the foldable lineup—expected to be the base Galaxy Z Fold 8. This one will be Samsung’s ultimate weapon to counter Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone later this year. We are also keeping an eye out for the missing Galaxy Watch 9 Classic.
Nevertheless, the core pillars of Samsung’s upcoming premium mobile lineup have successfully passed through government checkpoints.
