Is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 last foldable flip phone that Samsung will launch? Well, it may as well be. Something to that effect was rumored at the end of last month, and a well-known tipster just confirmed the news… kind of.
This time around, the information comes from Ice Universe, one of the best and most reliable tipsters around. He went to X to say that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 “is likely to be Samsung’s last small folding product.”
By “last small folding product,” he’s obviously referring to the flip phone factor. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will also be kind of small when folded, so don’t confuse the two. He’s referring to flip phone foldables.
This could mean that we’re not going to see the Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE either. The thing is, the tipster doesn’t seem to be 100% sure. He said “likely to be” and not “will be.” It doesn’t seem to be a definitive thing at this point.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 will become official on July 22, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and two of Samsung’s new smartwatches. We’ve recently shown you the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s official renders, and you can also check out some of Samsung’s upcoming cases.
The Android Headlines Take
Rumors regarding the end of the Galaxy Z Flip series are getting louder and louder, but it’s still hard to believe it’ll happen. That series of phones was rather popular for the company over the years, and it’s hard to imagine Samsung will put it to bed.
The arrival of a wide book-style foldable could make it happen, though; perhaps that’s Samsung’s thinking. A wide book-style foldable sure can offer more productivity, but there are still a lot of people who love the clamshell form factor. We’re not entirely convinced Samsung is done with flip phones.
