The privacy display was a new feature that Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra at the beginning of 2026, but it was only available on the Ultra model. It’s now being reported that Samsung plans to add the privacy display to two Galaxy S27 models when the phone launches in early 2027.
The privacy display isn’t a new concept as it has existed in screen protector form for many years, and for a pretty wide variety of phone models. Samsung’s implementation of it on the Galaxy S26 Ultra was the first time it was baked into a phone as a native feature that the user could turn on and off at their discretion. When enabled, the privacy display will reduce or turn off wide-angle pixels in the panel so you can’t really see anything on the screen unless you’re staring straight at it.
Samsung’s privacy display will be coming to the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra
According to a report from ETNews (via GSMArena), Samsung will be planning to launch the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra with the privacy display as a native feature. The base model Galaxy S27 will launch without it, just like the Galaxy Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus.
This decision is reportedly a way for Samsung to ensure that it can set the Galaxy 27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra apart from the two lower-end models of the phone. Samsung is also said to be extending this feature to laptops, or that it’s looking into the possibility of doing so. No specific laptop models were mentioned but it is stated that they would be from Samsung.
The company is also reportedly exploring the idea of adding a privacy display feature to other products, though no other product types were mentioned either.
