While foldable phones have long been the stars of Samsung‘s summer events, this year is different. A new product, Samsung’s first pair of AI-powered smart glasses, could take the spotlight at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked—rumored to take place on July 22 in London.
Samsung’s Galaxy smart glasses may arrive with a focus on style
The company isn’t just focusing on the internal hardware. To ensure these glasses actually look good on your face, Samsung has reportedly partnered with the high-end eyewear brand Gentle Monster. This collaboration suggests that the “Galaxy Glasses” will prioritize a sleek, everyday aesthetic.
According to reports, these glasses will follow the minimalist “audio-only” trend. Instead of a built-in screen, the device will likely mount a 12MP camera, microphones, and speakers. However, the real magic happens through the software. Running on Google’s Android XR and powered by the Gemini AI assistant, the glasses will analyze your surroundings in real-time and provide helpful information directly into your ears.
Completing the AI ecosystem
Samsung doesn’t see these glasses as just another accessory. According to industry sources, they are being positioned as “edge devices.” This means they will act as a bridge between your smartphone, your home appliances via SmartThings, and even your car. The idea is to create a seamless assistant that understands the context of your physical world and frees your hands for other tasks.
A packed summer lineup
While the glasses are a big attraction, Samsung is also preparing a massive support cast for the event. We expect to see the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8. Plus, there’s a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide model designed for tablet-like multitasking in a compact form factor.
On the software side, Samsung is already paving the way with the One UI 9 beta (based on Android 17). The firm confirmed the launch of the firmware this week for the Galaxy S26 series. This update introduces a “Text Spotlight” tool and “Creative Studio,” features that hint at the more accessible and customizable mobile experience Samsung wants to offer across its entire ecosystem later this year.
